The Souper Bowl of Caring is a nationwide movement focused on fighting hunger at the local level. Here in Central Virginia, funds raised directly support Feed More, the region’s core hunger-relief organization serving neighbors across 29 counties and five cities.
Together with FOX Richmond, this partnership helps ensure children and families in our community have consistent, nutritious meals on the table.
Addressing Childhood Hunger in Central Virginia
The need is real and ongoing. Currently, one in six children in Central Virginia is at risk of food insecurity. That statistic represents thousands of local families who may not know where their next meal will come from.
Souper Bowl of Caring is designed to help bridge that gap—mobilizing businesses, community partners, and viewers to make a meaningful local impact. By supporting Feed More, donations stay right here in Central Virginia, directly benefiting children, families, and seniors in our own neighborhoods.
“Right now, our society is living in uncertainty,” said Lucy O’Shields, Senior VP of Marketing at Renewal by Andersen of Central Virginia. “Just to help, by giving even a dollar, goes a long way. Organizations like Feed More are able to take that dollar and magnify it.”

The Impact of Feed More Across Central Virginia
Founded in 2008 following the merger of the Central Virginia Food Bank and Meals on Wheels, Feed More has grown into a powerhouse of regional nutrition and care.
In 2025 alone, Feed More distributed an incredible 38 million pounds of food throughout Central Virginia. Of that total, 20 million pounds consisted of fresh produce and healthy proteins, ensuring that neighbors not only receive food—but receive the nutrients they need to grow, learn, and thrive.
Through collaboration with volunteers, partners, and local organizations, Feed More collects, prepares, and distributes food across the region, serving:
- Children facing food insecurity
- Families navigating financial hardship
- Seniors in need of daily meal support
Renewal by Andersen Team Members Volunteering with Feed More
To show their commitment to this partnership, Renewal by Andersen of Central Virginia team members volunteered with Feed More to pack 1,957 meals for distribution. These meals will be distributed through partner organizations, such as Meals on Wheels, to seniors in the greater Richmond area. These meals are carefully planned and packed to satisfy the nutritional needs of elderly people. Volunteering with Feed More gave team members at Renewal by Andersen of Central Virginia the chance to take an active role in giving back to their community.
Meals on Wheels: Nourishment and Connection
Feed More’s Meals on Wheels program plays a critical role in supporting homebound individuals throughout Central Virginia.
Beyond delivering nutritious, cooked-from-scratch meals, Meals on Wheels provides two essential services that cannot be found in a grocery bag:
- Daily social interaction
- Safety checks for vulnerable neighbors
This program empowers seniors to maintain independence and remain in their homes, surrounded by the comfort and memories they cherish.

FOX Richmond invites the Central Virginia community to take part in the Souper Bowl of Caring and help fight hunger locally. Secure donations can be made through February 28, with every dollar raised directly supporting Feed More’s mission to provide nutritious meals to children and families across the region.
